The mission of the Latvian Medical Foundation is to strengthen healthcare, education, and medical science through investment in people and international cooperation.
The Foundation’s work is guided by four core values:
- Professional excellence, reflected in high ethical and quality standards;
- Education, as a long-term investment in young physicians;
- Solidarity, including humanitarian medical support for Ukraine;
- Sustainability, ensuring responsible use of resources and lasting impact.
These values define the Foundation’s identity and guide its continued development as a trusted partner in Latvia and internationally.
How
We Work
For more than 35 years, the Latvian Medical Foundation has invested in people who strengthen healthcare systems. Through international medical training, academic partnerships, and humanitarian medical assistance, the Foundation enables young physicians to bring world-class expertise back to Latvia while providing life-saving support in times of crisis.
A central focus of the Foundation has always been the professional growth of young physicians. Through its scholarship programs, LMF has enabled Latvian doctors to gain international clinical and academic experience and to bring this knowledge back to Latvia for the benefit of patients and the healthcare system as a whole.
Since 2022, the Latvian Medical Foundation has also been actively engaged in providing humanitarian medical assistance to Ukraine, responding to the severe challenges faced by healthcare institutions during the war. This effort represents a natural extension of the Foundation’s long-standing values and mission.
Donor support directly advances medical education, improves patient care, and sustains international solidarity where it is needed most.
