Dr. Kalnins Named Director of LMF Scholarship Programs
Dr. Aleksandrs Kalnins has been named the new director of the Latvian Medical Foundation scholarship programs and a member of the LMF Board of Directors. He is a neuroradiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Kalnins will be developing a new initiative for the LMF to bring visiting scholars to Latvia to teach at the medical schools and hospitals.
Norman Knight was born on July 24, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked his way up in the radio broadcasting business to become president of RKO General at age 29. In 1959 he established the Knight Quality Station Group, which grew to own about 20 radio stations in New England. Mr. Knight was one of the leaders and pioneers in radio, broadcasting, and cable television.
Andronico Luksic is a Chilean businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist. He is Chairman of the Luksic group and Vice-President of the Bank of Chile. In addition to his business and philanthropic work, Mr. Luksic began mountaineering at age fifty and has completed the "Seven Summits of the World."
Non-Profit Status
The Latvian Medical Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to improving healthcare in Latvia. The LMF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization as specified by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
